This iOS Software Engineer role for FineTime offers a unique opportunity to build and scale a high-impact consumer app designed to eliminate the snooze cycle and enforce real accountability. FineTime combines behavioral psychology, financial incentives, and anti-cheat systems to ensure users wake up on time—every time.
A successful candidate brings strong expertise in iOS development using SwiftUI, experience building responsive and intuitive mobile interfaces, and the ability to ship quickly in a fast-moving, product-focused environment. This role requires ownership across the full stack of the mobile experience, including alarm logic, real-time state handling, offline-first data persistence, and seamless integration with backend services.
You’ll play a key role in shaping a product that directly impacts user discipline, productivity, and long-term behavior change at scale.
• Design and build intuitive, high-performance user interfaces using SwiftUI, focused on speed, clarity, and user engagement.
• Own end-to-end development of core product features, including alarm scheduling, wake verification, and real-time state handling.
• Architect and maintain an offline-first system using local persistence (SwiftData/Core Data) with seamless synchronization to Firebase when connectivity is restored.
• Integrate and manage backend services using Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Cloud Functions) to support user data, alarms, and payment-related workflows.
• Develop reliable, time-sensitive systems to ensure alarms trigger accurately and enforce user accountability under all conditions.
• Implement anti-cheat mechanisms to prevent users from bypassing alarms (e.g., app deletion, time manipulation, connectivity toggling).
• Collaborate with product design to iterate on user flows that drive behavioral change and improve retention.
• Optimize application performance, responsiveness, and memory usage across a range of iOS devices.
• Structure scalable and maintainable architecture by organizing business logic across managers (e.g., UserManager, AlarmManager) and modular components.
• Debug and monitor edge cases related to time, scheduling, and background execution to ensure system reliability.
• Integrate third-party services such as Stripe (payments) and Mapbox (location-based or visual features) where applicable.
• Continuously iterate on features based on user behavior, analytics, and real-world usage patterns.
We’re a lean, fast-moving team of 7 building FineTime, a high-impact consumer app focused on accountability and behavior change. Our team is fully remote, with members based across the United States and Europe, and we work closely across product, engineering, and growth to ship quickly and iterate based on real user feedback. As we scale, we’re expanding into Android, marketing, and broader distribution, creating opportunities to shape both the product and the company from the ground up.
